This is the sping/spingd package, version 1.0.
You can use sping to determine in a script if a host is running spingd, which
usually only runs if at least the net-subsystem of the host running the daemon
is up.
I use it to check if a nfs-server is up and running the nfs-daemons. To do
this, simply start the nfs-daemons and AFTER them spingd. Or simply start
spingd after ALL daemons, so you can use sping to look if a host is up or not.
Use sping --help to see usage informations.
